4. GET THE STATISTICS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL TRACK/SONG, AND THEN CORRECT THE
EQ OF THE TRACK TO HAVE THE *EXACT AMOUNT OF BASS. (REMOVE SONIC BOOM / RUMBLE / LOW FREQ THAT DEGRADES THE SOUND & MAKES ITS SOUND MUFFLED) OR ADD & BRING UP THE BASS AS NEEDED TO MAKE THE LOW END SOUND PERFECT.
5. CHECK AND FIX THE MID's (VOCALS) TO BE RADIO READY EQ AND FIX ALL TRACKS TO HAVE THE SAME LEVELS ,YOUR CD WILL SOUND EXCTALY LIKE THE MAJORS,
6. CHECK & FIX THE HIGHS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL TRACK.
7. THE ENTIRE CD IS EQ’D TO TODAY'S HIGH LEVELS OF COMMERCIAL RADIO
& Red Book
Industry Standards, SO YOUR MIX WILL SOUND GREAT IN EVERY ENVIOREMENT, AND BE
RADIO READY 100%.
:: Equalizing the entire mix during Mastering ::
There are 2 main types of EQ done during mastering. First, minor repairs can be done if the overall EQ doesn't sound quite right, but if the problem is very bad the entire song must be remixed.
It is quite common to adjust the amount of bass or treble slightly. Second, The overall EQ can be adjusted to make the overall Bass, Midrange & Treble more similar from song to song. Again, if the difference is too great, it might require remixing the songs. There is only so much that can be done in mastering with EQ since all the songs are no longer separate on their own tracks

Red Book Industry Standards.
What is Professional Mastering?
Here are
a few reasons why you need professional mastering.
Reasons why you can't say your cd-dat is
a master!!!
Every recording deserves
a good mastering, when you’re trough mixing, your work is not
finished, mastering adds polish, it sounds more than just a record
it becomes a work of art.the songs work together seamlessly, their
sound can take on a dimensionality and life, that enhances even the
best mixes. Here are some reasons why mastering is
needed:
Ear Fatigue:
Most of the recordings are done on
multi-tracks, the next step is mixdown, this mix may take form 4 hours to 4
weeks depending on the producer, artist. Each tune is mixed in isolation. Some
mixes are done at 2 o’clock in the
morning when ears are fatigued, others are mixed at 12 noon when the
ears are fresh, the result, every mix sounds different, every tune
has a different response curve.
The Monitor Skew:
Very few studios have accurate monitoring systems.and there
are many aspects, such as comb filtering due to acoustic
reflections, you heart has good intentions , but how often can you
you listen to the mixes in different sound enviorments, the home,
the car, boomboxes? The result your mixes are compromised.
Midi Madness: It sounds like everyone is
using the same samples!! Acoustic sounds are coming back in vouge,
but you cant hire the symphonic orchestra, so you compromise and use
a sample, but you should not compromise on mastering. Good mastering
can bring out the acoustic quality in your samples increasing your
chances in the crowded music field!!
More
Me: The producer was supposed to be in charge to keep the
artist off the mix room, and was absent for the day, and the artist/
musician decided to be there own producer, and the mixes sound like
vocal, bass or ( fill in the instrument) solos.
DAWs
& Hard Disk Recordings: The invention of digital
workstations (daw) and digital mixers, computers, is apparent a
blessing but really a curse. Many musicians and studios have
purchased a low cost daw, mixers, because they were led to believe
that the sound quality will improve. Unfortunately its real
easy to misuse the equipment.
I have found out that many mixers-daws-computers deteriorate the
sound of music, shrink the stereo image and soundstage, and distort
the audio. There are several reason for these problems - usually
wordlength, and jitter are compromised on these low cost
system. Its recommended that you use a high resolution
system that enhances rather than deteriorate the audio
quality.
Mixing Sessions:
When mixing you/producer have no idea how the songs
will be in order, and when you physically compile them and listen
one song after another, it probably won't sound like a “record”.
Some tunes will jump at you, while others will be to weak, you may
discover that some tunes are to bright, or to narrow, these things
actually happen, even after weeks in the studio, and the problem
dosen't become apparent until the album is assembled in its intended
order,or adutioned in a good monitoring environment.
Use a
Mastering Studio that employs a high resolution system,
that enhances rather than deteroiates the audio quality. Avoid the
pitfalls by using a studio that has the equipment &
more importantly a Good
Professional Engineer to give you the best
results.
The Mastering Engineer: The
perspective of another trained ear of the mastering engineer is
the last ear on your music project. Who can be artistic,
musical, and the technical sounding board for your ideas, take
advantage of his special ear, many beautiful music projects have
passed thru his studio. A Good Engineer will boost your
recordings to unbelievable heights, you should, see and hear the
difference immediately and will know if he is great, or just a
musican pretaning to be mastering engineer?
